Chickenpox (Varicella)

- Fever
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
- Headache
Common Causes
- Infection with the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), spread easily through the air by coughing or sneezing or by direct contact with fluid from the blisters.
Treatment Information
Treatment for healthy children is typically supportive care, including oatmeal baths and calamine lotion to relieve itching. Antiviral medications like acyclovir may be prescribed for high-risk individuals. A highly effective vaccine is available.
