COVID-19
Description
A contagious respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The severity ranges from asymptomatic or mild symptoms to severe illness, hospitalization, and death. It can also lead to long-term health problems known as "long COVID."

Common Causes
- Infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, spread primarily through respiratory droplets and aerosols when an infected person breathes, coughs, sneezes, or talks.
Treatment Information
Supportive care for mild cases. For severe disease, treatments may include supplemental oxygen, corticosteroids, and antiviral medications like Paxlovid or remdesivir. Vaccination is highly effective at preventing severe illness.
