Hepatitis A

Description

A highly contagious liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). It is typically a short-term illness and does not become chronic. It spreads through ingestion of contaminated food or water.

Common Symptoms

  • Fatigue
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Abdominal pain, especially near the liver
  • Dark urine
  • Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
  • Fever

  • Infection with the hepatitis A virus (HAV), usually transmitted via the fecal-oral route, either through person-to-person contact or consumption of contaminated food or water.

Treatment Information
