Hypopituitarism
Description
A rare disorder in which your pituitary gland fails to produce one or more of its hormones, or doesn't produce enough of them. The pituitary gland is a small gland at the base of your brain that is a "master gland," controlling many other glands in the body.
Common Symptoms
- Symptoms vary widely depending on which hormones are deficient. They can include fatigue, weight loss or gain, sensitivity to cold, decreased sex drive, and infertility.
Common Causes
- Can be caused by tumors of the pituitary gland, head injuries, brain surgery, radiation, or inflammation.
Treatment Information
Hormone replacement therapy to replace the deficient hormones.
